The Brava Sessions are part of Santos Bravos, HYBE’s reality show that aims to discover and launch the first Latin boy band with global impact on par with BTS. ACERCA DE EMJAY
María José de la Torre Villaseñor, professionally known as EMJAY, is a singer originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. Although she initially pursued an interest in architecture, she discovered her true passion for music during the pandemic. This realization led her to move to Mexico City to fully dedicate herself to a career in the music industry. In 2023, she released her debut album, “LAS MORRAS TAMBIÉN HACEN TR444P”, which aimed to highlight and strengthen the female presence in trap, a genre traditionally dominated by men. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with renowned artists such as Metrika, Gera MX, Lismar, and Belinda, and has performed at major festivals like Coca-Cola Flow Fest and Toñita Fest in Brooklyn, New York. EMJAY is known for her diverse musical style, blending trap, R&B, pop, and hyperpop, reflecting her passion for exploring different genres without limiting herself to just one. On April 17, 2025, she released her second album, “me estoy volviendo loca” (I'm Going Crazy), a project that delves into more personal emotions and marks an evolution in her sonic approach. The album followed the success of singles like “boss”, which reached 236,000 streams in its first 24 hours. The song also made a significant impact on TikTok, with 24.5K user creations and over 40 million total views. Her subsequent singles, “vuelta atrás” and “flash y pose”, were also well received by fans, garnering thousands of TikTok creations.
On July 2, EMJAY released the special edition “me estoy volviendo loca deluxe”. The focus track of this edition is “$$$ mis lágrimas”, and it includes a ballad version of “vuelta atrás” titled “vuelta atrás (como realmente lo sentí)” (how I really felt it). This edition marks the end of a personal and creative chapter, while also ushering in a more introspective and refined phase in her artistry. Currently, EMJAY is on her “mevl tour”, which has taken her to key venues across Mexico, the United States, and Central America, including performances at Toñita Fest in Brooklyn and Draguetón in San José, Costa Rica. The tour has sold out venues such as Foro Puebla in Mexico City and Sticky Bar in Tijuana, showcasing her artistic growth and strong connection with her audience.
